Ink & Mint is a personal website about rare books, stamps, coins, prints and ephemera, run by an individual collector and seller. This page explains what happens to data on this site, and what the private Ink & Mint inventory tooling behind it does with Google account data.

This website

Ink & Mint is a static site. It has no user accounts, no comment system, no newsletter sign-up and no login of any kind, so there is nothing for a visitor to submit and nothing to store.

The site does not run analytics software and does not set tracking cookies. As with any website, the hosting provider that serves these pages may keep short-lived technical logs (IP address, browser user-agent, requested URL) for security and reliability purposes. That is the host’s standard operation and is not used to build any profile of visitors.

Some articles link to third-party marketplaces such as eBay, including affiliate links. Following one of those links takes you to a site with its own privacy policy, which governs what happens once you are there.

Ink & Mint inventory tools (the private application)

The Ink & Mint inventory tools are a private application used solely by the operator of this site to manage their own listing inventory. The application is named Ink & Mint, the same name as this website, and is operated by the same individual. It is not offered to, distributed to, or usable by the public. It runs locally on the operator’s own computer and serves a single user — its owner.

What Google data it accesses, and why

The application requests the Google Drive scope https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive, which grants access to the operator’s own Google Drive.

It uses that access for exactly one purpose: organising the operator’s own photographs of inventory items. Concretely, it creates folders, names them after the corresponding listing, moves image files into them, and — when an item sells — moves that folder into an archive area. Broad Drive access is required because the photographs it organises already exist in the operator’s Drive and were not created by this application, which narrower scopes cannot reach.

How that data is handled

  • The application accesses only the Google account of its own operator. It never accesses any other person’s Google account or Drive.
  • Image files are moved and organised within the operator’s own Drive. Their contents are not copied to any external server, published, or transmitted to any third party.
  • OAuth credentials and tokens are stored locally on the operator’s machine in encrypted form. They are not shared with anyone and are not transmitted anywhere except to Google’s own API endpoints.
  • No Google user data is sold, rented, or disclosed to third parties.
  • No Google user data is used for advertising, for building user profiles, or to train artificial intelligence or machine-learning models.
  • No human reads the file contents accessed through the API, other than the operator looking at their own photographs.

Limited Use

Ink & Mint’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Retention and revoking access

Photographs remain in the operator’s Drive under the operator’s own control; the application only changes where they are filed. Access can be withdrawn at any time from the Google Account permissions page, which immediately and permanently revokes the application’s tokens.
